Chapter 10
“Julia, come! My stepmother will give us a lift to the cinema!”
Julia walked nervously to the car. She stepped in the car uneasily and unsure. I was feeling perfect! This is so going to be a great day. I was babbling along the way, but Julia was silent.
Complete silence. I began to feel uncomfortable.
I tried to start a conversation with Julia but she just wouldn't speak. I got impatient.
“Say something! For god’s sake!” I was annoyed. But she seemed to be frozen. I couldn’t see life in her eyes. I shock her with my hands.
To my surprise, I felt her shaking, shaking from fear.
“Julia! Julia!” I screamed. “What is it that your afraid of? Tell me!”
Julia did not speak, her steely blue eyes stared straight to the front. Her mouth dropped open, trembling from fear. She point her fingers to the front.
For a moment I was scared too, I didn't want to look at what ever made Julia scared. I didn't want to get scared.
But my curiousity took over my fear. I forced my neck to turn to the driver’s seat.
I realized the car has stopped. I must have been deep in thoughts not to realize it has stopped.
Something more terrifying came to view.
I trembled as I swallowed hard.
I couldn't catch my breath. I could see the back of Sophie, holding a sharp knife in her right hand.
All the nightmares came back to me. The scenes of Sophie killing mommy rushed back into my head.
I have completely lost control. If it really was as it was in the nightmare. I will get revenge for my mum, no matter what it takes.
In a flash, I grabbed the knife from Sophie and setted on her neck.
Julia finally spoke, with the colours back to her face. “Good one, Annie! You saved our lives!”
Some how, I couldn’t celebrate because this seemed so impossible!
As I was thinking, sophie looked at me wide-eyed in surprise.
“Annie! What are you doing? Look, you misunderstood me.” Sophie explained as she picked out an apple from her pocket. “I was chopping some apples for you guys.”
I almost fainted.
