Why Are Stars So Thin?
It's usually not because they're born that way! Here are some of the real reasons.
1. To get an audition3. The industry standard (unfortunately) requires that most lead actresses be thin; a plain, average looking girl won't get an audition—let alone4 be cast.
2. To look good on film. A wide-angle camera lens adds 10 pounds to people, so celebs do whatever it takes to be as thin as possible. That way they won't appear heavy on TV, in movies, or in photos—and lose their job.
3. To keep their job. Even after an actress has secured5 a role, about 10 percent of industry contracts stipulate6 that she cannot gain any weight if she wants to remain on the set7.
4. To stand out at events. Most designers make their one-of-a-kind8 dresses in a size 2 or 0. If you want fame you wear designer clothes, so celebs stay thin to be photographed in the best dresses.

Use these easy tips to live happier and healthier.
1. Each day for a week, pick a body part you dislike and focus on its function and tone it.
2. List 10 things you value about yourself that aren't about looks. If you need to slim down11, mark progress by how you feel, not by how you look.
3. If a friend said, “I'm sad” or “anxious,” you'd try to figure out why and help. Do that for yourself!
