Before you judge famous sisters Paris and Nicky Hilton for being “famous nobodies2,” take a closer look at their lives, and your view of them will more than likely change. Ever since they entered this world, Paris (on February 17, 1981) and Nicky (on October 5, 1983) have been the talk of the town3, if not the world for good reason. Let's face it: The Hiltons aren't an ordinary family.
　　Perhaps you've heard of the Hilton hotels, or you may have even stayed in one of the more than 2,400 hotels found world wide, for a few days while on a vacation. Well, Paris and Nicky are the great-granddaughters of Conrad Hilton, the founder of this chain of hotels. Like all grandfathers, Conrad spoiled4 his two darling granddaughters and left them over $300 million. Yet despite being heiresses, the girls were still under the watchful eye of their parents, Rick and Kathy, who were determined to do whatever was necessary to ensure that Paris and Nicky would see the other, poorer, side of life. For example, Nicky confesses: “They once made me take the subways to school every day for a month.” Considering that the sisters lived in a penthouse at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, this was something they probably thought was pretty cruel. Added Nicky in an interview with London's The Mirror, “Our parents always tried to show us how to spend money well.”
 When not living it up5 in New York City, the Hiltons reside at their 40-room Los Angeles mansion. Paris and Nicky spend time in school, where Nicky is said to be the more scholarly of the two. She was also smart enough to know that she had to go after6 what she wanted and not rely on her famous last name. She even went so far as to intern7—that means work for free, folks!— at Hampton magazine when she was a pre-teen8. “I walked around with a pad and was like, 'What do you guys want for lunch?' to all the people who worked there,” she told reporters of her only job.
 The Hiltons are a tight-knit family, standing together in the face of any crisis. The entire brood is sometimes over-shadowed by the antics9 of Paris and Nicky, but it's only a matter of time before their rarely mentioned younger brothers, Barron and Conrad, take a place in the spotlight.
 
HEY, SHE'S MY SISTER!
 With only a two-year difference in their ages, Paris and Nicky are very close. Wherever Paris is, Nicky is usually soon to follow and vice versa10. For many occasions and events, including several talk shows and during Australia's Fashion Week, they have substituted as the other's date. Nicky is especially supportive of her older sister, perhaps because Paris is the one most often found doing strange and socially unacceptable things. “I thought she was great,” praised Nicky. Paris is just as quick to defend Nicky: “We're nice girls...” No matter what the media says.
 
HEARTBREAK
 The first thing everybody notices about the sisters is their scandalous11 fashions, including their preference12 for VERY short mini skirts. Coming in at a close second would be the girls' love lives. Their dating history reads more like a television entertainment program, rather than a typical college student's love affairs. These beach-blonde beauties love and leave their partners so quickly that it's difficult to tell who their current boyfriend is.
 Given the high profile13 of several of her boyfriends, Paris has made the newspapers, regarding her love life, more often. She dated everyone from fellow model Jason Shaw, to Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio to Terminator 2's Edward Furlong. Currently, Paris is involved with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. But now it is said they called it quits14 after several months together.
 Less has been written about Nicky's romantic life, though it seems she favors models over the bad boys of Hollywood.

WHAT'S NEW?
　　Both Paris and Nicky have been employed as models, but their future pursuits are very different. Nicky would like to expand her handbag collection. She will continue her work in fashion design, as well as carry on as a regular contributor to the Free Arts for Abused Children Foundation.
 Paris, on the other hand, will continue to explore film and singing. Her time spent on the very popular TV series The Simple Life, co-starring best friend Nicole Richie, has made her a household name15, thanks to the series' phenomenal16 ratings. The show premiered17 earlier this year with 13 million viewers tuning in18.
　　“People who think Paris and I are not famous for anything don't know what they're talking about,” Nicky told a reporter. “Paris has films coming out, we've got a perfume line coming out, and my handbag company makes $30 million a year. There's a lot of stuff that we do that people don't know about.”
