Chapter 4
The lifesaving bell rang just in time. Erica made her way out the disastrous room. She breathed in hard, but no oxygen came in. She felt so dizzy, as if the sky was twirling and the ground was swirling. “Why is everyone against me? Tommy, Amber, and even Miss Brooke!” Erica thought bitterly.
“Erica! Are you alright?” Melissa and Ryan found me half lying on the bench.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I think I’ve just got a light headache. Never mind about it. Look, I nearly forgot. You’ve got to see this.” Erica took out the scrambled newspaper and handed to Melissa.
Melissa read it without taking a breath, she rolled her eyes suspiciously.
“Wait a minute! It can’t be! No way! Impossible!” Melissa shouted rigidly.
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
Melissa took out her own Sun times, “I bought the sun times today as well. How come I don’t have that report? Our newspapers are the same issue and same articles but I just don’t have that one.”
Erica and Ryan’s dropped open, but nothing came out.
"Maybe that is providence, no one else got it, but we got it. Maybe we are the only ones that could solve this mystery.” Erica thought. The three of them made a decision; they are going to meet at Erica and Ryan’s house after school. They will talk about this and get information.
Only if Erica knew some one was overhearing their conversation behind the bench, she may have been a little more careful.
Erica is having a Math lesson right now. She couldn’t concentrate. Her eyes fell out side the window, where did the teenagers go? She took out the sun times and read it once more, trying to see if there is anything delicate about this. She sneaked out of class by the pretense of relieving herself.
She found a place where she could be alone and forget about the newspaper and be back to her old self.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Ryan.
“Ryan, aren’t you supposed to be in class?” Erica was a little annoyed. She didn’t want to be interrupted.
“I couldn’t concentrate. Just like you. I know you are not in a good mood. And I also know that it’s not about the news, it’s something else. You are hiding it from me.”
“I guess Melissa told you something. Ryan, I so wanna kill Tommy. He is so irritating.” I was taking out.
“Ok. Calm down. I know you’re mad. But I don’t see it that way. Tommy is just naughty, we can’t blame him for that. He is one and a half year younger than you, we should be tolerant with him. But instead, I think Amber is the real ugly creature. I mean, she planned this all. She asked the teacher to get her a copy of those exam papers and she bought off Tommy.” Ryan comforted his little sister.
“Ryan, I know you have had a little argument with Amber this morning. But I think Amber isn’t that bad. She is just being naughty as well. I thrust you but you have to be impersonal.”
“Sis, why don’t you believe me?” Ryan was a bit angry.
“No it’s not that. You weren’t there at the time, how can you know all the things?”
“But…I…” he hesitated. “I just know it, ok?”
Erica got back to class, she stared at Amber. She is selfish, but is she evil?
The answer will be revealed, soon……
