On the morning of September 11, two hijacked American Airliners broke into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. A third plane hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C. US announced that more than 3200 people were killed or missing in the attack, and that the economic loss, direct or indirect, reached hundreds of billions of dollars. As the result of the attack, the war against terrorism in Afghanistan broke out on October 7.
